Wine Tours

Since the early 1950’s Coonawarra has featured prominently as one of Australia’s greatest wine regions, producing Cabernet Sauvignon in particular to rival the great French houses of Bordeaux. Coonawarra Discovery has slowly crafted its wine touring business from the experience of 17 years touring and supporting tens of thousands of satisfied visitors. We can provide a tailored experience that caters to the individuality and tastes of the customer or we can deliver our “Best of Coonawarra” hand-crafted tours. We target your complete satisfaction.

The most commonly requested service is the standard half or full day wine our with optional platters, lunches or picnics.

We also offer a unique Landrover Adventure on most tours as an option where you can enjoy a 4 wine flight matched with selected cheeses and Red Cacao chocolates in the private 200 acre forest of Hundred of Comaum Wines.

If you stay at our accommodation property Coonawarra Bush Holiday Park or Ruby’s Cottage in Penola, you can enjoy 10% discount for our wine tours.

PAID FLIGHT WINERIES

Recently some Coonawarra wineries have introduced paid flights instead of free tastings. Payment for these tastings is sometimes (but not always) offset against any wine purchases made at the winery. Coonawarra Discovery cannot budget for these charges and tries not to include these wineries in its standard itineraries due to this policy but is happy to take you there so long as you understsand you will be required to pay for these flights and that the cost of these flights is not included in the tour fee. Currently, the wineries offering paid flights (redeemable) are Raidis Estate, DiGiogio and Leconfield.

Bush Wine and Chocolate pairing

Choose this instead of your last winery on your itinerary.

For a totally unique experience, opt for the Hundred of Comaum open-air cellar door located on their beautiful 2oo acre property in Coonawarra. You will be driven to a private bush location in the original 1975 Landrover and given a private food pairing education based around wine and chocolate! 4-5 chocolate combinations with and 4-5 wines matched for you to compare and contrast in unparalleled peace and quiet - a great way to finish your wine tour. Steve Moignard, the property and wine label owner, will teach you the secret or matching food and wine. $30 per person, minimum 4 persons, only $20 if you are guests of Coonawarra Bush Holiday Park. Weather dependent - if it is raining we can do the pairing in the camp kitchen.

Landrover Adventure with Red Cacao chocolate and Hundred of Comaum wine pairing - an option on every tour!

“Let the chocolate coat the inside of your mouth and hold it until the intensity is unbearable - then sip a wine with enough acidity to cut through it and deliver a unique rich chocolatey wine experience! “
